A new capability (in preview) allows you to configure your Azure App Service and Azure Functions apps for login authentication through any OpenID Connect provider.

Recent reports detailed Certificate Authorities that were not compliant with industry standards for trusted CAs. As per industry requirements, non-compliant CAs are being revoked requiring customers certificates to be re-issued.

App Service is now an events publisher on Azure Event Grid (in preview)
App Service is now an events publisher with Event Grid, enabling developers to subscribe to events from their web apps or app service plans and act using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, webhooks, and other services. The feature is available for Windows and Linux apps in all public regions.

Azure App Service on Azure Stack Hub Update 8 released today.
Azure App Service—SameSite cookie handling and .NET Framework 4.7.2 patch
As part of the January 2020 update to Azure App Service, .NET Framework patches that update how .NET framework apps handle the SameSite cookie property are being installed. The service is also deploying an App Service compatibility behavior that applies to all applications running on App Service for scenarios where a cookie has set the SameSite property to "None".

API Apps Icon Removed from Azure Marketplace Web category in the Azure Portal
Target retirement date: November 25, 2019
The API Apps icon in the Web category of the Azure Marketplace has been removed from the Azure Portal. Since API Apps and Web Apps have the same functionality, the API Apps icon has been removed.
New App Service Integration with Azure Monitor (preview)
App Service now has improved integration with Azure Monitor, the cloud's centralized telemetry service. This gives development and operations teams greater insight into their Windows and Linux web apps.
