Enable a seamless Azure experience
Azure NetApp Files is a fully managed cloud service with full Azure portal integration and access via REST API, CLI, or PowerShell. Importantly, it’s sold and supported by Microsoft and is not a marketplace offering. Seamlessly migrate and run applications in the cloud, without worrying about procuring or managing storage infrastructure. Purchase Azure NetApp Files and get support through your existing Azure agreements, with no up-front or separate term agreement.
Count on the power of ONTAP
Industry-leading NetApp ONTAP serves hundreds of thousands of customers and has earned the trust of enterprise organizations over decades. The technology provides proven protocol support, including support for NFSv3 and SMB 3.1. It enables powerful data management with scheduled snapshots of datasets, high availability, and high performance. Learn more about ONTAP.
Get advanced security for your business-critical data
Azure NetApp Files gives you FIPS-140-2-compliant data encryption at rest, role-based access control (RBAC), Active Directory authentication (enabled for SMB), and export policies for network-based access control lists.
Extend support for hybrid scenarios
Easily replicate data across on-premises and cloud infrastructures using Cloud Sync—a NetApp service for rapid, security-enhanced data synchronization. Simplify lift and shift and DevOps scenarios with capabilities like instantaneous snapshot and restore and Active Directory integration (for SMB) that work the same way in the cloud and on-premises storage environments. Integrated data replication and backup will be available in the near future. Learn more about Cloud Sync.

Frequently asked questions about Azure NetApp Files
Azure NetApp Files is available in US East, US West2, US South Central, US Central, EU West, and EU North. We plan to announce new regions as we add them, via Azure updates.
Like other Azure services, Azure NetApp Files can be provisioned and consumed against your existing Azure agreement(s). Due to overwhelming demand and to provide an optimal experience, onboarding currently takes place via whitelisting. To request whitelisting, reach out to your Microsoft account executive or submit an online request.
We expect whitelisting to continue until we‘ve successfully increased capacity to meet demand. We’re targeting September 2019 for full Azure portal, self-provisioning capabilities.
Azure NetApp Files can support any POSIX-compliant workload that requires shared file storage. The service is offered in three performance tiers to fit your workloads: Standard for static web content, file shares, and database backups; Premium, comparable to mainstream SSD performance and suitable for databases, enterprise apps, analytics, technical applications, and messaging queues; and Ultra for most performance-intensive applications like those in high performance computing.
We’ve tested SAP file shares with Azure NetApp Files for application-level high availability and plan to support SAP HANA in the near future, after Azure NetApp Files is certified by SAP.
