General availability: IoT Hub Azure portal extension update
Published date: March 25, 2021
Starting today, IoT Hub's Azure portal API calls are made directly by your browser with your credentials. This means these API calls are no longer proxied through a backend service, which improves security, stability, and consistency with other Azure services.

In most cases, this update doesn't affect regular use. However, there are two exceptions:
- If you've enabled IP filter for your IoT hub, you must add your computer's IP address to the allow list to continue using the IoT Hub in Azure portal.
- If you've disabled public network access for your IoT hub (and want to keep it that way), you can access the IoT hub using Azure portal using clients in the same VNET as the IoT Hub private link. Otherwise, use IP filter and add your computer's IP to the allow list.
