Zone Redundancy in preview for Azure Cache for Redis
Published date: October 14, 2020
Azure Cache for Redis now supports multiple availability zones, expanding the availability and resiliency of a customers’ cache architecture. Previously, caches in the standard or premium tier had built-in replication with a two-node configuration—a primary and replica with two identical copies of their data. This extra redundancy increased the reliability of a customer’s cache.
With this update, it is now possible to increase reliability in the premium tier even further with up to four nodes for redundancy: a primary and three replicas. Additionally, these replicas can be distributed across multiple availability zones. This setup protects against a datacenter-level outage, increasing availability up to a 99.95 percent level.
