Azure DevTest Labs: Create multiple-VM environments with Resource Manager templates
Published date: November 21, 2016
In Azure DevTest Labs, you can now create your environments by using Azure Resource Manager templates.
Azure DevTest Labs has provided a good experience for creating a single VM, but users wanted a more productive way to provision and manage multiple-VM environments (such as multiple-tier web apps or SharePoint farms). You can now use Resource Manager templates to generate multiple-VM environments.
You can load these templates from your source control repository (GitHub or VSTS Git), after which DevTest Labs users can choose them as a base when creating an environment. Another benefit of Resource Manager templates is that they can be used to provision PaaS resources in an environment, in addition to IaaS VMs.
You can read more about using Resource Manager templates to provision lab environments in our main blog post.
Please try it today and let us know what you think about it! If you have an idea for how to make it work better, submit your feedback (or vote for others) at the Azure DevTest Labs feedback forum.
