Azure Quantum

Experience quantum impact today on Azure

Build quantum solutions today

Tackling the world's toughest challenges requires computational power that exceeds that of today’s most powerful computers. Where classical computing may take a billion years to address some of these challenging problems, quantum computing has the power to solve these problems in weeks, days, or even hours.

Azure Quantum is a diverse set of quantum services, ranging from pre-built solutions to software and quantum hardware, providing developers and customers access to some of the most competitive quantum offerings on the market. And for developers, we’ve created the open-source Quantum Development Kit, which has all of the tools and resources you need to start learning and building quantum solutions today.

Quantum solutions like pre-built solvers and algorithms that run at industrial scale

Quantum software, including simulators and resource estimation tools, scaled by Azure compute

Quantum hardware system options with a variety of different qubit architectures

Scale, security, and support from Azure and trusted partners

Industry-leading partnerships

Azure partners with industry leaders to assemble and curate the most flexible and diverse set of quantum resources available today—including hardware, software, and solutions—for customers across all disciplines.

The Azure Quantum stack

Azure Quantum is the world’s first full-stack, open cloud ecosystem that enables quantum impact today. Together with our partners, we’re assembling the industry’s most diverse selection of quantum solutions, software, and hardware in Azure. Azure Quantum is a single, lasting experience that enables customers to write one code that connects to any hardware advancements that come along—classical computers, quantum hardware from our partners, or our own quantum system built on the foundation of tomorrow’s revolutionary topological qubit.

Join the Azure Quantum development community

For developers, Azure Quantum has set up a thriving community where emerging quantum computing programmers can learn from each other and work together to solve problems and build using the Quantum Development Kit. This open-source kit available on GitHub includes the quantum-focused programming language Q# (Q-sharp), as well as tools, quickstarts, and self-guided katas to help you learn the basics of quantum development.

Frequently asked questions about Azure Quantum

  • Azure Quantum will launch in private preview in the coming months.
  • You can apply to join the Microsoft Quantum Network here. If your application is accepted, you’ll have the opportunity to engage one-on-one with Microsoft to expand quantum computing knowledge and jointly develop solutions to benefit your organization and the quantum computing industry. Request to join
  • You can find quantum learning resources, such as samples, self-guided katas, code libraries, quickstarts, tutorials, notebooks, blogs, and community support in the Microsoft Quantum Development Kit
  • “Schrödinger's cat” is a popular thought experiment used to help explain quantum physics, suggested in 1935 by Erwin Schrödinger, a famous Austrian physicist and one of the founders of quantum theory. Schrödinger’s idea was that if you place a cat and something that could kill the cat in a box and sealed it, you would not know if the cat was dead or alive until you opened the box, so that until the box was opened, the cat was, at least in a sense, both "dead and alive." We’re happy to report that no cats were harmed during this thought experiment—also, our Microsoft Quantum team loves cats. Meow.
