Application Insights is a preview service available in the Azure Preview portal designed to help development teams get 360° views of their applications across Availability, Performance and Usage with fast & powerful troubleshooting, diagnostics and usage insights.

The new Application Insights Websites Extension is the result of close collaboration between the Azure Application Insights team and the Azure Websites team.

Once you enable this extension from your websites you will be able to see all your application dependencies and related statistics. You can even drill down to see the dependencies involved in a particular request and how they affect the performance of your website or web application.

The picture above shows an example of the drill down. Here we can see that the call to a remote dependency, in this case SQL took 75ms.
