Live encoding expands on the industry proven live cloud platform and can be combined with dynamic packaging, dynamic encryption, sub-clipping, dynamic manifest manipulation, ad-marker insertion, and seamless live to on-demand capabilities to build comprehensive live and cloud DVR workflows. Common use cases include event-based streaming with dynamic ad-insertion and live streaming with cloud DVR requirements. Live encoding has been used to power some of the largest events on the planet such as Super Bowl 2015 and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Privileged Identity Management, a new feature of Azure Active Directory Premium, enables you to discover, restrict and monitor privileged identities and their access to resources but also enforce on-demand, just in time administrative access when needed. This new capability, currently available in public preview, is accessible through the new Azure Portal.
Administrators are able to set rules on any group of Azure Active Directory, based on user attributes (“department”, “country” etc) to dynamically define their membership. These groups can be used to provide access to applications or cloud resources or assign licenses to users. The capability is in preview.
Azure Active Directory now provides Conditional Access policies that lets you create access rules for Azure AD connected application based on user location and group membership. More sensitive apps can be assigned stricter policies, such as requiring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) outside of the corporate network while less sensitive apps can have more open policies.
Azure Active Directory allows the assignment of shared application accounts to groups. This is particularly useful for managing access to company owned social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. The real password of these accounts was known only by the administrator while other members of the group have access by using their work credentials. One very important security enhancement of this process, in public preview, is the ability to automatically rollover these passwords. This capability makes shared accounts more secure by automatically creating new strong complex passwords at an interval you define and minimizes the risk of exploitation of company owned social media accounts.
Users of Azure Active Directory can now choose from a list of applications made available by their organization and request access to them through a self-service process that is currently in public preview. This self-service process can either provide access to the chosen application immediately or via a an approval workflow.
Now customers can select Linux clusters when deploying big data workloads to Azure. You can also more easily move existing Apache Hadoop workloads into the cloud, plus access an expanded set of big data components to run in the service. HDInsight, our managed Hadoop-as-a-service offering, brings the power of this open source, big data ecosystem to Azure in an integrated, managed, and supported way. By offering Linux clusters, we’re enhancing the opportunity for customers to gain insights from the massive amounts of data being created in the cloud. HDInsight Linux clusters are updated, monitored, and operated by Azure, enabling customers to focus on queries and data, not machine management or Hadoop patching. Built on Ubuntu and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) 2.2, HDInsight on Linux clusters can be deployed today by registering for the public preview.
Maximize mobile apps usage and revenue with Azure Mobile Engagement – a SaaS-delivered, data-driven user engagement platform that enables real-time fine-grain user segmentation, app user analytics, and contextually-aware smart push notifications and in-app messaging across all connected devices. It closes the marketing loop for app developers and marketers allowing them to get directly in touch with all of their customers in a personal, contextually-aware and non-intrusive way, and at the right time.
Row-Level Security is a programmable security feature that can be implemented in databases to enable fine-grained access over rows in a table for greater control over which users can access which data. This allows for more flexibility and data protection when multiple users or applications need to access different records in the same database tables. Row-Level Security can help organizations more easily meet organizational or industry compliance policies. Row-Level Security is managed at the database level and requires SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Data Tools to implement and manage.
This preview introduces the next-generation of the SQL Database service. The capabilities in this preview bring near-complete SQL Server engine compatibility and more Premium performance to the SQL Database service. Key improvements include; support for larger databases with online indexing and parallel queries, improved T-SQL support with common language runtime and XML index, and support for in-memory columnstore index. The preview enrollment experience occurs in the new Azure portal.
Application Insights is an all-in-one telemetry solution which can help you detect issues, solve problems and continuously improve your web applications. It is designed to be an integral part of your development process and provides real time, 360° views of your apps across availability, performance and usage. You can take advantage of the powerful data exploration tools for swift, proactive & reactive issue handling. You can also understand how your users are using your application and make informed decisions to focus your investment where it matters most.
Azure Batch makes it easy to run large-scale parallel and HPC applications in the cloud. Batch is a new platform service that makes it easy to cloud-enable your applications and run jobs without setting up and managing a cluster and job scheduler. Use the SDK to integrate client applications with Azure Batch through a variety of languages, stage data to Azure, and build job execution pipelines. You can use Azure Batch as part of workflows, and to deliver self-service applications as a service.
Data Factory gives organizations an agile way to manage the production of trusted information from a diverse set of on-premises and cloud data sources by offering an easy way to create, orchestrate and manage data processing pipelines over a range of transformation services . Organizations can easily connect to data in their on-premises SQL Server implementations and in Azure storage. They can choose from custom C# transformations or Hive and Pig scripts running on an HDInsight Hadoop implementation to transform their source data into easily consumable trusted data assets to drive business insights.
Azure Files allows Virtual Machines (VMs) in an Azure Data Center to mount a shared file system using the SMB protocol. These VMs will then be able to access the file system using standard Windows file APIs (CreateFile, ReadFile, WriteFile, etc.). Many VMs (or Platform as a Service (PaaS) roles) can attach to these file systems concurrently, allowing you to share persistent data easily between various roles and instances. In addition to accessing your files through the Windows file APIs, you can access your data using the Files REST API, which is similar to the familiar Blob interface.
Quickly and easily create customized billing alerts that help you monitor and manage billing activity for your Azure accounts.
Dynamic Data Masking for Azure SQL Database to help further protect unauthorized access to sensitive data. Dynamic Data Masking is a policy-based security feature that helps limit the exposure of data in a database by returning masked data to non-privileged users who run queries over designated database fields, like credit card numbers for example. The actual data on the database is not changed and the data masking is done on-the-fly as queries are processed.
"The actual data on the database is not changed and the data masking is done on-the-fly as queries are processed. Dynamic Data Masking is available on the V12 version of SQL Database, learn more about upgrading."
