Data Box options for online and offline data transfer
Moving stored or in-flight data into the cloud is a challenge. Data Box devices provide solutions for both scenarios.
Offline Data Transfer - Data Box, Data Box Disk, and Data Box Heavy are offline data transfer devices which are shipped between your datacenter and Azure. Data Boxes use standard NAS protocols (SMB/CIFs and NFS), use AES encryption to protect your data, and perform a post-upload sanitization process to ensure that all data is wiped clean from the device.
Online Data Transfer - Azure Stack Edge and Data Box Gateway are online data transfer products. Azure Stack Edge is an on-premises network appliance that can move data into and out of Azure, and has the ability to add AI-enabled edge compute to process data during upload. Data Box Gateway is a virtual appliance for moving data in and out of Azure.
US government entities are eligible to purchase Azure Government services from a licensing solution provider with no upfront financial commitment, or directly through a pay-as-you-go online subscription.

Azure Germany is available to customers and partners who have already purchased this, doing business in the European Union (EU), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and in the United Kingdom (UK). It provides data residency in Germany with additional levels of control and data protection. You can also sign up for a free Azure trial.

Prices shown in all regions except US Gov are GA prices, which take effect May 1, 2019. Standard storage rates and transaction fees are charged separately as applicable.
Effective September 1, 2019, Data Box Edge is available in the following countries in addition to the US and EU: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey, additional countries will be available in the future.
Support & SLA
- We provide technical support for all Azure services released to general availability, including Azure Data Box, through Azure Support, starting at $29/month. Billing and subscription management support is provided at no cost.
- We guarantee at least 99.9% availability of the Azure Data Box & Azure Stack Edge/Data Box Gateway services. Availability is calculated over a monthly billing cycle.

The Azure Stack Edge hardware is available in the US and EU countries only at this time. New regions are being added regularly as hardware is deployed.

The monthly subscription fee covers the use of a Azure Stack Edge for a period of thirty (30) calendar days. Shipping and customs will be calculated on a region-by-region basis and charged to you in addition to the subscription fee.
