Microsoft Dev Box is now generally available

Dev Box is a virtualized solution that empowers developers to quickly spin up self-service workstations preconfigured for their tasks while maintaining centralized management to maximize security and compliance. With Microsoft Dev Box, organizations can:
- Get set up and start coding in minutes with cloud-based workstations tailored to your projects.
- Enable dev teams to create and manage dev box configurations purpose-built for their projects
- Keep workstations secure and costs under control by maintaining centralized management and governance
Microsoft Dev Box entered GA on July 10th, 2023. In GA, Dev Box has an updated pricing model that enables full-time users to pay a flat monthly rate while only charging part-time users for what they use. Dev leads can also select from expanded SKU offerings with 16 and 32 vCPU cores. Additionally, instead of having to shut down dev boxes every time they’re done working, developers can now hibernate their dev box and pick up later where they left off. This feature is available today in public preview.
