This guide by Jon Shelley of Global AzureCAT shows you how to handle Message Passing Interface (MPI) workloads in a high-performance computing (HPC) environment on Azure. In this approach, you use Azure Batch to run large-scale jobs in parallel on Linux virtual machines. Azure NetApp Files (ANF) provides the shared file system.

This guide walks you through the steps to deploy an ANF file system for the batch compute nodes so you can run a simple HPC-X MPI task. Clean-up steps are provided, too, so you don’t incur additional charges.
