What is Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP). The solution includes DevOps security, cloud security posture management (CSPM), and cloud workload protection(CWP) capabilities, which help find weak spots across your cloud configuration, strengthen the overall security posture of your environment, and protect workloads across multicloud and hybrid environments from evolving threats.

Does Defender for Cloud support AWS and Google Cloud environments?

Yes. Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a multicloud security solution. It provides native CSPM capabilities for Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud environments and supports threat protection across these platforms. You can also connect non-Azure workloads in hybrid scenarios by using Azure Arc.

Does it cost to get all the features of Microsoft Defender for Cloud?

Basic CSPM capabilities in Microsoft Defender for Cloud are free. Defender Cloud Security Posture Management is available at extra cost, and cloud workload protection plans are charged on a per-resource basis.
