Get results-driven baselines for designing PVFSs on Azure

The Parallel Virtual File Systems on Microsoft Azure e-book details performance tests on the scalability of Lustre, GlusterFS, and BeeGFS. Use these results as a guide for sizing and storage configurations when building your own Parallel Virtual File System (PVFS). The Azure Customer Advisory Team (AzureCAT) also authored articles on getting started with and implementing GlusterFS.


Azure mobile app now generally available

Azure Cosmos DB BulkExecutor library available in .NET and Java

Download the Azure Cosmos DB BulkExecutor library in .NET via Nuget and Java via Maven. Using the library, import and migrate large datasets efficiently into Azure Cosmos DB collections within minutes. The library can also be used to perform bulk updates (patches) of existing data stored in Azure Cosmos DB. Learn more and get started with samples in .NET and Java.

New asynchronous Java SDK for Azure Cosmos DB in preview

Now in preview, the new asynchronous Java SDK for the Azure Cosmos DB SQL API is now open sourced on GitHub. This SDK uses the popular RxJava library to add a new asynchronous API surface area for composing event-based programs with observable sequences.

Vulnerability assessment feature of Azure SQL Database now generally available

Now generally available, the vulnerability assessment feature of Azure SQL Database provides a single place to discover, track, and remediate potential database vulnerabilities. Get visibility into your security state and actionable steps to investigate, manage, and resolve security issues, and enhance your database fortifications. With this announcement, the feature is also part of a new security package for SQL Database, known as SQL Advanced Threat Protection, which provides a single location for advanced SQL security capabilities, including threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and information protection.

Zone-redundant configuration for premium service tier in Azure SQL Database generally available

Zone-redundant premium databases and elastic pools are generally available in select regions. The built-in support of Availability Zones further enhances business continuity of Azure SQL Database apps and makes them resilient to a much larger set of unplanned events, including catastrophic datacenter outages. The supported regions include Central US, France Central, France South, and East Asia, with more regions to be added over time.

Resumable online index create feature of Azure SQL Database in preview

The resumable online index create (preview) feature lets you pause an index create operation and resume it later from where the index create operation was paused or failed. With this release, we extended the resumable functionality by also adding this feature to the resumable online index rebuild feature.

Azure Kubernetes Service generally available

Now generally available, Azure Kubernetes Service lets you simplify how you build and run container-based solutions without deep Kubernetes expertise on Azure. It integrates with dev tools and workspaces, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), networking, monitoring tools, and more so you can focus on writing and shipping code, not stitching services together.
