Azure Backup increases features and supports additional DPM workloads

We are excited to announce the availability of the following features in the latest Azure Backup update:
  • Long-term retention: You can now create daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly retention policies for your data. With this update, the number of backup copies you can retain increases from 120 to 366. You can store backups in Azure for up to 99 years!

  • Use Offline Backup to quickly back up large amounts of data : Initial backup copies are typically huge, and in cases of insufficient network bandwidth, initial backup operations are time consuming. You can now ship the initial backup data to an Azure data center by using the Azure Import service to avoid network congestion. Instead of copying the data over the network, you identify all data that you want to back up, and ship that data on disk drives to an Azure data center where the data is quickly uploaded, saving you valuable time. After uploading the data, your drives are returned.
  • Back up all DPM workloads to Azure: In addition to Hyper-V virtual machines, SQL databases, and files and folders on Windows Server, you can now back up Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, and Windows client workloads to Azure.   • Improved monitoring and reporting in SCOM: The new management pack for DPM provides a powerful reporting infrastructure that can be used to generate data-rich, custom reports and dashboards across multiple DPM servers! Customers no longer have to visit every DPM server to extract the canned reports - the new Reporting Management Pack provides all that and much more.
