Link feature in Azure SQL Managed Instance now in limited public preview

Published date: November 02, 2021

The new link feature of Azure SQL Managed Instance connects your SQL Servers hosted anywhere (supporting SQL Server 2019 and SQL Server 2022, which is now in private preview, at this time, with SQL Server 2016 and beyond in the near future) to Azure SQL Managed Instance, providing hybrid flexibility and database mobility. With an approach that uses near real-time data replication to the cloud, you can shift workloads to read-only secondaries on Azure to take advantage of cloud-only features, performance, and scale. You can also choose to migrate one or more applications at the same time, at your own pace, with minimum downtime.
