Prices are estimates only and are not intended as actual price quotes. Actual pricing may vary depending on the type of agreement entered with Microsoft, date of purchase, and the currency exchange rate. Prices are calculated based on US dollars and converted using London closing spot rates that are captured in the two business days prior to the last business day of the previous month end. If the two business days prior to the end of the month fall on a bank holiday in major markets, the rate setting day is generally the day immediately preceding the two business days. Gen2 is Azure Maps newest pricing tier that gives users access to all map features with volume-based discounts. You only pay for the services you use. Prices below are per 1,000 transactions. Customers using Azure through an Enterprise Agreement (EA) can use the Azure pricing calculator or look up details on the EA portal for more information regarding Azure Maps pricing plans. Note on Transactions

For Base Maps, Imagery, Traffic and Weather Tiles requests, one transaction is created using increments of 15 tile requests.

For Route Matrix, one transaction is counted for every cell in the matrix. If you provided 5 origins and 10 destinations, that would be counted as 50 Routing transactions.

For Batch Search calls, each individual query in the batch counts as a Search transaction. For Batch Route calls, each individual route calculation query in the batch counts as a Routing transaction.

For Spatial Operations Geofencing, one transaction is created using increments of 5 Geofencing API calls.

Discounts applicable based on usage volume starting at 100,000 transactions per month. Please contact sales team for details. Billing is calculated on a monthly basis.

Gen1 pricing will remain in effect for existing Azure Maps customers but you are welcome to change pricing at any time. We strongly encourage you to evaluate the potential cost savings and additional product benefits you can achieve by moving to Gen2 pricing. For Maps, Traffic and Weather Tile requests, one transaction is created using increments of 15 tiles. Maps Tile requests made by S1 accounts include Aerial Imagery and Hybrid Aerial Imagery Tile requests.

For Search Service, Route Service, Time Zone Service, Geolocation Service, Spatial Operations except Geofencing, Weather Service, non-Map Tile Render Service and non-Traffic Tile Service requests, each API call counts as a transaction.

  • We recommend Gen2 pricing for both existing as well as new Azure Maps customers. Gen2 pricing is perfect for new Azure Maps customers as it comes with a free monthly tier of transactions to be used to test and build on Azure maps.

    For existing Azure Maps Gen1 S0 customers, moving to Gen2 will:

    • Remove your QPS (Queries Per Second) restriction
    • Make available all Azure Maps services
    • Allow you to achieve cost savings as Azure Maps transactions increases.

    For existing Azure Maps customers on Gen1 S1 pricing, there is considerable advantage in moving to Gen2 pricing such as satellite imagery, batch search and route functions, matrix routing, route range (isochrones), spatial operations, and geofencing.

  • Visit manage the pricing tier of your Azure Maps account page for instructions on how to change your pricing tier. If a customer chooses to switch from Gen1 (S0 or S1) pricing to Gen2 pricing, they will not be required to switch Azure Maps Keys or Active Directory (ADD) Client ID.
