With the growing popularity of storing and managing data using Azure SQL Database, demand for full-text search capabilities in a wide variety of applications is rapidly increasing.

With the release of the Basic, Standard, and Premium Azure SQL Database service tiers, we provide built-in backup and restore capabilities.

Today we are announcing the public preview of Elastic Scale for Azure SQL Database. The new Elastic Scale capabilities simplify the process of scaling out (and in) a cloud application’s data tier by streamlining development and management.

In this final post in our series on Business Continuity I’m going to look at point-in-time restore, a self-service feature available for Basic, Standard, and Premium databases.

This post describes some simple steps and guidelines on the process of using the information from this DMV to evaluate and pick the right performance tier for your database workload.
