November 30, 2016, is the retirement date for Azure In-Role Cache and the Azure Managed Cache Service. We recommend that you migrate to Azure Redis Cache in preparation for this retirement.
Azure Redis Cache has been the recommended caching solution in Azure since the service became generally available, and it’s is now available in all Azure regions, including China and the US Government. Because of this availability, we’re announcing the upcoming retirement for Managed Cache Service and In-Role Cache.
Managed Cache Service and In-Role Cache service will remain available for existing customers untill November 30, 2016. After this date, the Managed Cache Service will be shut down, and the In-Role Cache service will no longer be supported.
We’ll also remove support for creating new in-role caches in the first Azure SDK release after February 1, 2016. Customers will still be able to open existing projects with in-role caches.
During this period, we encourage all existing Managed Cache Service and In-Role Cache service customers to migrate to Azure Redis Cache. Azure Redis Cache provides more features and a better value overall. For more information on migrating, please visit the Migrate from Managed Cache Service to Azure Redis Cache documentation webpage.
