General availability: Automated backup enhancements for SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines

Automated Backup, a feature in the SQL IaaS Agent extension, provides an automatic backup service for SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. We have added the following enhancements to this feature to store your backups for longer periods and help ease the manageability of identifying backups:

• An increased retention length of your backups in the storage account from 30 days to 90 days.
• The ability to choose a specific container in the storage account per instance. Previously, the experience only allowed you to specify a storage account and all backups to that same storage account would go to the same container. Now you can choose a specific container in the storage account for each Azure Virtual Machine.
