App-consistent backup for Oracle and MySQL DBs in preview

In the database world, especially, Oracle, snapshots are not usually considered backups since the Oracle DB may not know when they are triggered and hence recoverability can be doubtful. By involving the database and quiescing it just before taking snapshots, snapshots turn into application/DB consistent backups and you can leverage the instant backup and restore benefits of snapshots as well. You can also choose which disks are to be selectively snapshotted to minimize costs. All these benefits are provided to you with the enhanced, pre-packaged script based Azure VM backup solution. These scripts will be owned and maintained by Microsoft and you just need to provide the workload name and the connection information to start using them.
