Azure Site Recovery—Updates for Windows servicing stack and SHA-2
Published date: October 15, 2019
Operating system updates to the Windows servicing stack and SHA-2 are required for some Azure VMs and on-premises VMware VMs/physical servers replicating to Azure for disaster recovery.
The updates are needed from version 9.30.xx (expected to be released early November 2019) of the Mobility service extension (Azure VMs) and Mobility service agent (VMware VMs/physical servers). SHA-1 is no longer supported, and if SHA-2 code signing isn't enabled, the extension/agent won't install or update as needed.
To install the updates:
- For Azure VMs, VMware VMs, or physical machines running Windows 2008 R2 with SP1, or Windows 7 with SP1, install the servicing stack update and SHA-2 in accordance with the instructions in the linked articles.
- For Azure VMs, VMware VMs, or physical machines running Windows 2008 with SP2, install the servicing stack update and SHA-2 in accordance with the instructions in the linked articles.
