- Azure Government runs in dedicated US datacenters with US data residency for workloads that require it. It adds government-specific authorizations that might limit the breadth of Azure services and AI available. If you want the broadest set of Azure services and the newest AI solutions, you may want to explore Azure Commercial if that’s an option.
- Some example authorizations for each cloud: Azure Government holds FedRAMP High P-ATO (JAB) and DoD IL2, IL4, and IL5 (PA); Azure Government Secret holds DoD IL6 (PA), ICD 503 ATO, and JSIG PL-3 ATO, with direct SIPRNet connectivity; Azure Government Top Secret holds ICD 503 ATO and JSIG PL-3 ATO, with facilities accredited to ICD 705.
- Azure Government is for US federal, state, local, and tribal government entities and their solution providers, plus contractors that hold or process government data. Microsoft validates eligibility before access is provisioned.
- Yes. Azure OpenAI in Microsoft Foundry Models is available across US Government data classification levels, including Secret and Top Secret, for copilots and agents where your data lives.
- You can acquire Microsoft and Azure through JWCC for DoD, GSA Multiple Award Schedule (SIN 518210C), NASA SEWP, NITAAC, GSA Alliant, and Commercial Cloud Enterprise (C2E) for the Intelligence Community, among others.

- Request an Azure Government free trial through the intake form below. After Microsoft validates your eligibility as a US government entity, you can create a subscription and start building. For Azure Government Secret and Azure Government Top Secret, contact your Microsoft account representative.
