General availability: Azure Virtual Network service endpoints for Azure SQL Data Warehouse

Published date: December 07, 2018

Azure Virtual Network service endpoints for Azure SQL Data Warehouse is now generally available in all Azure regions.

You can use Azure Virtual Network service endpoints to isolate connectivity to your logical server from a specific subnet or from a set of subnets in your virtual network. Traffic to Azure SQL Data Warehouse from your virtual network will always stay in the Azure backbone network.

With this release, we also enable PolyBase connectivity to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 via an Azure Blob FileSystem driver. You can also use PolyBase to import data to SQL Data Warehouse from Azure Storage secured to your virtual network. PolyBase also supports exporting data from SQL Data Warehouse to Azure Storage secured to your virtual network.
