The G5 and GS5 Azure VMs will no longer be hardware-isolated on 28 February 2022
Published date: February 22, 2021
Azure Dedicated Host allows you to run your organization’s Linux and Windows virtual machines (VMs) on single-tenant physical servers. We recommend you use Azure Dedicated Host if you need hardware isolated VMs. After 28 February 2022, the G5 and GS5 Azure VMs will no longer be hardware isolated and isolation guarantee for your G5 and GS5 Azure VMs will not be supported.
What actions should I take?
If hardware isolation is not a requirement for you, there is no action you need to take.
If isolation is required for you, before 28 February 2022, please select one of the following options:
- Migrate your workload to Azure Dedicated Host by using either Azure Command Line or via the Azure portal. View Dedicated Hosts pricing.
- Migrate your workload to E80ids_v4 or E80is_v4 Azure isolated VMs. Please stop your current G/GS VMs and follow the instructions to resize your VMs: Azure Virtual Machine Windows VM and/or Linux VM. View Windows VM pricing for E80ids_v4 and E80is_v4. View Linux VM pricing for E80ids_v4 and E80is_v4.
