Preview: Customize lexical analyzers in Azure Search

Thursday, January 21, 2016

By customizing analyzers in Azure Search, you can take full control over the process of breaking your documents into searchable terms. This highly requested feature is now enabled for everyone indexing documents that contain more than only natural language, for example: source code, product serial numbers, or phone numbers. Custom analyzers support the following and more:
  • Phonetic search (matching based on how a word sounds, not how it’s spelled)
  • Fast prefix and suffix queries
  • Disable lexical analysis on searchable fields completely
You can read more about the announcement in Custom analyzers in Azure Search. Or you can read the full documentation on MSDN: Analysis in Azure Search.
