Public preview: Global VNet Peering

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

The ability to peer across regions is currently in preview. Global VNet Peering enables peering virtual networks in different Azure regions. Traffic that flows through peered virtual networks never leaves the Microsoft backbone network. You can create a global, private peered virtual network through Global VNet Peering, enabling a variety of scenarios such as data replication, disaster recovery, and database failover through private IPs alone.

Global VNet Peering is currently available in the following regions:

  • US West Central
  • Canada Central
  • US West 2

You can peer virtual networks across these regions by using the Azure portal, PowerShell, Azure CLI 2.0, or templates. To register for the preview and learn more, see the Global VNet Peering documentation.
