New tool available to migrate from classic monitoring alerts

Published date: March 28, 2019

As communicated earlier, classic alerts and related APIs for Azure Monitor will retire onJune 30, 2019. We have enabled a tool on your subscription that you can use to automatically migrate your existing classic alert rules to the new platform. If you don't use the tool, Microsoft will automatically trigger the tool to migrate your classic alert rules starting in July 2019.

What’s new in Azure Monitor alerts

Now you can set multiple filters and have greater granularity in the alert rules. And you can create alert rules at scale, by creating a single rule to cover multiple resources. Further, you identify patterns and alert for anomalies via Dynamic Threshold (Preview) on the new Azure Monitor platform. Action groups on the new platform provide an array of options not available in classic alerts—like sending SMS message, making a voice call, running an Azure function, and adding a ticket in the ITSM tool.

Using the classic alert migration tool

To learn more about how use the migration tool in the Alerts section of Azure Monitor in the portal, read the step-by-step instructions.

The migration of alert rules will disrupt any automation that you've employed.
