Retirement of the Azure Media Services Face Detector on September 14, 2023

As Microsoft’s Responsible AI Standards outline, Microsoft is committed to fairness, privacy, security, and transparency with respect to AI systems. To better align our products to this new Standard and the Limited Access policy for other Microsoft products, Azure Media Services will be retiring the following capabilities on September 14, 2023:

After September 14, 2023, any applications you have developed using the Azure Media Services Face Detector preset will begin experiencing errors or failed job submissions.

Action Required

The Azure Media Services Face Detector preset will be retired and is not being replaced at this time. If you would like to instead detect people in a video, we recommend you update your applications to use the Video Indexer APIs for detecting observed people and matching observed people to faces and submit a request to get access to the Limited Access program for these features.

If you are currently using the Video Analyzer preset, we recommend updating your applications to use the Video Indexer APIs for video analysis, which offers an extended range of capabilities.
