Azure FXT Edge Filer is in public preview
Updated: April 11, 2019
Azure FXT Edge Filer combines software and hardware into an appliance that sits on premises and provides a high-performance cache for hybrid storage environments. Based on Avere caching technology, the new Microsoft Azure solution connects NAS to Azure Blob through a latency-hiding tier that keeps active data at the Edge, closest to compute.
The solution is designed to boost file-serving performance in read-heavy HPC workflows commonly found in media rendering, genomic analysis, financial simulation, and more. Companies will use the Azure FXT Edge Filer to optimize NAS performance, efficiently serve data to remote compute locations (WAN caching), and to extend storage resources for active archives to Azure Blob.
