Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, Nutanix runs in Azure, supported jointly by Microsoft and Nutanix. Microsoft manages and supports the Azure specialized compute hardware and its data and control plane platform for the underlay network. Nutanix covers the lifecycle management of its own software (MCM, Prism Central, Prism Element, etc.), including operations and licenses.
  • Purchase Reserved Instances for NC2 on Azure from the Azure portal or use the PayGo option from the Nutanix portal. Also, obtain Nutanix licenses from Azure Marketplace or a Nutanix channel partner, or simply reuse your existing Nutanix licenses.
  • Details on the different Ready Node or SKU types and the many Azure regions are available online.
  • Yes, initially, a minimum of three nodes is required.
  • Yes, NC2 on Azure infrastructure counts toward your organization's MACC agreement.
  • Yes, with Microsoft Software Assurance or an active Linux subscription, you can take advantage of Azure Hybrid Benefit for SQL Server or Windows Server.
  • Yes, ESUs are free for Windows Server users running in NC2 on Azure.
