Azure Container Service is a container hosting environment optimized for Azure. Container Service simplifies container-based application development and deployment. Using the best of partner technologies such as Docker, Apache Mesos, and open source components of DCOS, we free your teams to focus on application development, rather than dev/test and deployment infrastructure.
Container Service is a free service that clusters virtual machines into a container service. You only pay for the virtual machines, and associated storage and networking resources consumed.
Container Service clusters are composed of masters and agents. Masters provide container orchestration and deployment management. Agents provide the computing power for your workload. A single cluster must include a minimum of three virtual machines—one master, one public agent, and one private agent. For high availability, we recommend you deploy either three or five masters to your Container Service cluster. Masters always use D2-size virtual machines, but for agents you can select any size. See pricing for virtual machines.
All agents in a single Container Service cluster must use the same size virtual machine regardless of whether they are designated as public or private. The cost of a single Container Service cluster is calculated by summing the price of the number of D2 instances you choose to act as masters, plus the sum of the number of agents. The cost of the agents depends on the instance size you choose for them.
Both the number of public and private agent virtual machine pools can be scaled up or down after a Container Service cluster has been deployed.
US government entities are eligible to purchase Azure Government services from a licensing solution provider with no upfront financial commitment or directly through a pay-as-you-go online subscription.
Important—The price in R$ is merely a reference; this is an international transaction and the final price is subject to exchange rates and the inclusion of IOF taxes. An eNF will not be issued.

B-series (in preview)
B-series are economical virtual machines that provide a low-cost option for workloads which typically run at a low to moderate baseline CPU performance, but sometimes need to burst to significantly higher CPU performance when the demand rises. These workloads don’t require the use of the full CPU all the time, but occasionally will need to burst to finish some tasks more quickly. Many applications such as development and test servers, low traffic web servers, small databases, micro services, servers for proof-of-concepts, build servers, and code repositories fit into this model. The prices are for the preview and may change when the service is generally available.| Instance | Cores | RAM | Temporary Storage | Price |

IP address options
Every Azure Cloud service containing one or more Azure Virtual Machines is automatically assigned a free dynamic virtual IP (VIP) address. For an additional charge, you can also get:
- Instance-level public IP addresses—A dynamic public IP address (PIP) that is assigned to a virtual machine for direct access.
- Reserved IP addresses—A public IP address that can be reserved for your subscription, which can be used as a VIP address for any cloud service in the region.
- Load-balanced IP addresses—Additional load-balanced VIP addresses that can be assigned to an Azure Cloud Service containing one or more Azure Virtual Machines.
Support & SLA
- Free billing and subscription management support
- Azure Container Service is a free service, therefore it does not have a financially backed SLA. However, for the availability of underlying virtual machines, the Virtual Machine SLA applies. See the Virtual Machines SLA for more details.
