Azure Site Recovery

Minimize business disruption with Azure Site Recovery.
Overview

Ensure business continuity during unplanned outages

  • Reduce risk during outages and ensure business continuity with automatic recovery and one-click failover to another zone or region. Leverage built-in validation templates, zonal and regional, and automated faults to execute drills.
  • Comply with industry regulations such as ISO 27001 by enabling Site Recovery between separate Azure regions. Scale coverage to as many business-critical applications as you need.

  • Reduce the cost of deploying and maintaining on-premises disaster recovery infrastructure. Pay for compute resources only when you need to run your applications from the recovery region.
  • Replicate any workload running on supported Azure VMs, on-premises Hyper-V and VMware VMs, and Windows or Linux physical servers.
FEATURES

Minimize disruptions

Multiple data consistency options

Choose between crash and application consistent recovery options, with recovery points of up to 15 days.

Centralized monitoring and alerting

Leverage resiliency capabilities to monitor your replication jobs and alerts at scale.

Continuous replication

Enable uninterrupted replication for Azure VMs and VMware VMs with Site Recovery, with a replication frequency as low as 30 seconds for Hyper-V.

Recovery plans

Customize and sequence the failover and recovery of multitier applications running on multiple VMs using recovery plans. Recovery plans can be integrated with Azure Automation runbooks.

Private link support

Use Azure Private Link to replicate machines from inside an isolated virtual network to make network connectivity more secure.

Test without disruption

Validate your ongoing replication and disaster recovery strategy, without any downtime by running test failover.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Azure Site Recovery contributes to your business’ resiliency strategy, by orchestrating and automating replication of Azure VMs between regions, on-premises virtual machines, and physical servers to Azure, and on-premises machines to a secondary datacenter.
  • A secure connection is established between all services by using the HTTPS protocol. This makes sure that any malware or outside entities can't tamper the data. Another measure taken is using checksums. The data transfer between source and target is executed by computing checksums of data between them. This ensures that the transferred data is consistent.
  • We support Azure Pack, Cloud Platform System, and System Center based (2012 and higher) deployments. Learn more about Azure Pack and Site Recovery integration.
  • You can use Azure Site Recovery to protect most workloads running on a supported virtual machine or physical server. Site Recovery provides support for application-aware replication, so that apps can be recovered to an intelligent state. Learn more about workload protection.
