Azure SQL Data Warehouse lets you quickly implement a high-performance, globally available, and secure cloud data warehouse. You can independently scale compute and storage, while pausing and resuming your data warehouse within minutes through a massively parallel processing architecture designed for the cloud. Seamlessly create your hub for analytics along with native connectivity with data integration and visualization services, all while using your existing SQL and BI skills.
SQL Data Warehouse offers guaranteed 99.9 percent availability, regulatory compliance, built-in advanced security features, and data sovereignty across more than 30 regions so you can build a data warehouse that meets your business needs. SQL Data Warehouse adapts to your workload using intelligent caching to accelerate data access and query performance to handle the most demanding data warehousing workloads. Azure SQL Data Warehouse is available in 2 Compute Optimized SKUs: Gen1 and Gen2.
US government entities are eligible to purchase Azure Government services from a licensing solution provider with no upfront financial commitment, or directly through a pay-as-you-go online subscription.
Important—The price in R$ is merely a reference; this is an international transaction and the final price is subject to exchange rates and the inclusion of IOF taxes. An eNF will not be issued.
Azure Germany is available to customers and partners who have already purchased this, doing business in the European Union (EU), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and in the United Kingdom (UK). It provides data residency in Germany with additional levels of control and data protection. You can also sign up for a free Azure trial.
SQL Data Warehouse is not available in the France South region. Please select another region.
Includes adaptive caching to deliver enhanced performance for workloads with consistent compute requirements. Designed for intensive workloads with higher query performance and compute scalability needs.
Compute Optimized Gen2
Service Levels DW100c, DW200c, DW300c and DW400c currently have limited regional availability. View our documentation for details.
Effective November 1, 2018, there will be name changes to Azure SQL Data Warehouse storage on Azure. There won’t be a pricing impact, but you may need to modify billing routines that rely on names. Learn more on this page.
Data storage and snapshots
Data storage is charged at the rate of $-/1 TB/month ($-/1 TB/hour). Data storage includes the size of your data warehouse and 7-days of incremental snapshot storage.
Note—Storage transactions are not billed. You only pay for stored data and not storage transactions.
Geo-redundant disaster recovery
Your data warehouse is copied to geo-redundant storage for disaster recovery. Disaster recovery storage is billed starting at $-/GB/month.
Azure SQL Database Threat Detection provides an additional layer of security intelligence built into the service. It works around the clock to learn, profile, and detect anomalous activities indicating unusual and potentially harmful attempts to access or exploit databases.
SQL Database Threat Detection integrates alerts with Azure Security Center, and each protected SQL Database server will be billed at the same price as Azure Security Center Standard tier— $-/node/month, where each protected SQL Database server is counted as one node. We invite you to try it out for 60 days for free. Please see Azure Security Center pricing page for more details.
Yes, once the data warehouse is created, you will be billed hourly for compute and storage. Compute is billed at $-/100 DWUs/month, unless the data warehouse is paused. Storage is billed at $-/1 TB/month.
Pausing the data warehouse pauses compute. If your data warehouse was paused for the entire hour, you will not be charged compute during that hour. If your data warehouse was active and then changed to pause during the hour, then you will be charged for that hour of compute. When your data warehouse is paused, you will be charged for storage that includes data warehouse files, 7-days' worth of incremental backups, and geo redundant copy, if opted in. To learn more, please refer to the documentation.
Compute and storage are billed separately to make it easier for you to see the level of compute resources consumed. Compute usage is charged on an hourly basis. For example, if your data warehouse is active for 12 hours in a month, you will only be billed for the 12 hours that your data warehouse existed. If your data warehouse exists for only 30 minutes in a month, you will be billed for 1 hour.
Your data storage charge is inclusive of the size of your primary database, plus 7 days of incremental snapshots. Charges are rounded to the nearest TB. For example, if your data warehouse is 1.5 TB and you have 100 GB of snapshots, you will be billed for 2 TB of data at a rate of $-/1 TB/month.
Storage is sold in 1 TB allocations. If you grow beyond 1 TB of storage, your storage account will automatically grow to 2 TBs.
You cannot opt out of snapshots, as this capability provides your data warehouse with data loss and corruption protection.
