Notification Hubs pricing

Send push notifications to any platform from any back end

Azure Notification Hubs provides a highly scalable, cross-platform push notification infrastructure that enables you to either broadcast push notifications to millions of users at once, or tailor notifications to individual users. You can use Notification Hubs with any connected mobile application—whether it’s built on Azure Virtual Machines, Cloud Services, Web Sites, or Mobile Services.

Prices are estimates only and are not intended as actual price quotes. Actual pricing may vary depending on the type of agreement entered with Microsoft, date of purchase, and the currency exchange rate. Prices are calculated based on US dollars and converted using London closing spot rates that are captured in the two business days prior to the last business day of the previous month end. If the two business days prior to the end of the month fall on a bank holiday in major markets, the rate setting day is generally the day immediately preceding the two business days. This rate applies to all transactions during the upcoming month. Sign in to the Azure pricing calculator to see pricing based on your current program/offer with Microsoft. Notification Hubs is offered in three tiers—free, basic, and standard. Base charge and quotas are applied at the namespace level. Pushes exceeding included amounts are aggregated at the subscription level for each tier.

1By default, we limit subscriptions to ten standard namespaces. Please contact us to lift the limit if needed.
2Upon request, we are able to increase the 100 hubs per standard namespace limit, though we do not recommend doing so to avoid service interruptions as quotas are enforced at the namespace level.
3Standard namespaces have access to per message telemetry and push notification services feedback.

  • An Azure subscription helps you organize access to cloud service resources, where Notification Hubs is a resource. A namespace is a grouping mechanism that may contain multiple notification hubs and sits in one region. A hub is an engine that simplifies push and sends notifications to cross-platform applications with features in Notification Hubs.

  • Pushes include all notifications delivered to the platform notification services (e.g. Windows Notification Service, Apple Push Notification Service, Google Cloud Messaging, and Microsoft Push Notification Service).

  • Both basic and standard tiers do not require auto-scaling. Customers can use an unlimited amount of pushes at published rates.

  • There are no daily push quotas.

  • Active devices are devices eligible to receive notifications. They are defined as unique registration IDs for devices using Google Cloud Messaging or Amazon Device Messaging, channel uniform resource identifiers (URI) for devices using Windows notification service or Microsoft push notification Service, or device tokens for devices using Apple push notification service.

  • All new registrations against any hubs within the namespace of whose active device quota is reached will be interrupted.

  • Go to the management portal, ServiceBus, and click on your namespace, then your notification hub. Under the Scale tab, you will be able to change your Notification Hubs service tier.

  • 1. The subscription has two basic namespaces and sends 5 million and 9 million pushes respectively with the two. The subscription will be charged $24 for the month. $20 comes from the base charges for the two namespaces. Since pushes are aggregated at the subscription level for each tier, the subscription sent a total of 14 million pushes in basic tier. The 4 million overage results in a charge of $4.

    2. The subscription has one free namespace, one basic namespace, one standard and sends 2 million, 10 million, and 10 million pushes respectively amongst the three. The free namespace exceeds 500 active devices. The subscription will be charged $210. New device registrations will be interrupted and only 1 million out of the 2 million pushes went through at random for the free namespace. The basic namespace is charged $10 and the standard namespace is charged $200 as there was no overage.
