The Azure DocumentDB team is excited to announce that DocumentDB is ISO 27001, HIPAA, and EU Model Clauses compliant. ISO 27001 is a security standard that is intended to bring information security under explicit management control. It is one of the most widely recognized certifications for a cloud service. And today, we are proud to join the family of Microsoft cloud services in scope for ISO/IEC 27001.
Along with ISO 27001, DocumentDB is certified for the EU Model Clauses and achieved HIPAA attestation. HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) establishes requirements for the use, disclosure and safeguarding of individually identifiable health information. And, the EU (European Union) Model Clauses ensures any personal data leaving the EEA (European Economic Area) will be transferred in compliance with EU data protection law. EUMC provides additional safeguards for the protection of personal data originating in the EU.
With these certifications and attestations, we hope to unlock new business opportunities for customers to adopt Azure DocumentDB. From this milestone, we will continue to meet and attain key international and industry specific compliance standards.
