OVERVIEW

Manage software updates to Azure

Azure Update Manager is a service that helps manage updates for all your machines, including those running on Windows and Linux, across Azure, on premises, and on other cloud platforms. Monitor update compliance from a single dashboard. Make updates in real time, schedule updates within a maintenance window, or automatically update during off-peak hours.
  • Monitor update compliance across Windows and Linux machines, including Azure machines and Azure Arc–enabled servers, from a single dashboard. Track the status of individual devices, deploy updates efficiently, and review results to help maintain security and consistent performance across your environment.

  • Control patch management with granular, resource-level permissions. Assign and manage responsibilities using role-based access control (RBAC) so the right teams can deploy security and critical updates while maintaining appropriate governance and operational oversight.

  • Install updates immediately, schedule deployments for a specific time, or automate updates during off-peak hours to minimize disruption. Align patch cycles with Microsoft’s monthly Patch Tuesday releases, check for pending updates automatically or on demand in the Azure portal, and manage assessment and deployment schedules using Azure Policy with dynamic scoping.

  • Protect Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2012 resources after the end-of-support deadline with Extended Security Updates. Maintain security across distributed environments while monitoring compliance for individual machines, deploying updates as needed, and tracking results to help keep your systems protected and up to date.
