Open Azure Day: A VIP Linux and OSS speaker line-up in one event

The Linux and open-source landscapes are changing rapidly. With so many companies embracing remote work and operations this year, we’re seeing more organizations running large-scale, mission-critical Linux and open-source workloads than ever before. IT teams need technical resources that can keep up—now. Even organizations that had already begun moving to the cloud are now finding that they need to accelerate and expand their cloud adoption.

They need secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions that they can trust, but they also need to keep their costs down. Microsoft Azure checks all those boxes, and you can learn more at the Open Azure Day digital event.

We know that today’s Linux and open-source professionals want customizable cloud solutions they can use with the tools they already love. We know they need meaningful support from software vendors to streamline their cloud adoption while keeping their operations running smoothly as they make the move. And we know they don’t want to get locked into having to work with just one particular vendor.

Working in close collaboration with Linux partners, Azure provides this much-needed choice and flexibility in hybrid cloud deployments. In fact, Linux is the fastest-growing platform on Azure and accounts for about half of all Azure compute cores.

Azure strongly supports and celebrates the open source community. We respect the incredible work open-source developers and partner organizations do, and we work to protect their intellectual property. We also listen closely to them to offer the support and flexibility they need from Azure to help them flourish. We are engaged in giving back to these communities, and we know it takes work to support vibrant, open ecosystems. We’ve also created many of our own open communities like Helm, VS Code, and Dapr to support more customers and users of the technology.

The power of Open Source is why we would like you to join us at Open Azure Day. This free digital event, happening on November 18, will show you the newest ways to rev up your mission-critical Linux and open-source apps and data with Azure. You’ll get tips, tools, and demos from open-source innovators like Red Hat, SUSE, Cloudera, VMware, Elastic, Redis Labs, Canonical, and HashiCorp, as well as from Microsoft insiders—register now.

We’ve planned Open Azure Day to help you learn specific ways to make your Linux and open-source work easier and more productive. Our goals for this event are to help you:

  • Run secure, seamless Linux and container apps the way you want, using your favorite tools.
  • Learn about Kubernetes and the cloud-native ecosystem.
  • Build unique hybrid and multicloud solutions that best suit your organization’s needs.
  • Take advantage of proven Microsoft and open-source partner solutions, with the integrated support you need get up and running quickly and stay that way.
  • Connect with open-source community experts and peers.

This event will feature two keynotes, four breakout sessions, and 12 on-demand technical deep dives into Linux and open-source technologies—including demos, code, and examples. We’ll begin the day with a keynote about the future of open cloud computing with me, Brendan Burns, Microsoft CVP of Azure Cloud Native and Open Source, and Scott Guthrie, Microsoft EVP of Cloud and AI. During this keynote, you’ll also hear from Brandon Pulsipher, Adobe Cloud Engineering and Operations VP, who’ll share how Adobe built Linux workloads on Azure from scratch.

Then, to fill you in on the Linux world’s latest updates, Sarah Novotny, who sits on the Linux Foundation Board of Directors and is part of the Microsoft Azure Office of the CTO, will lead discussions with VIPs from Red Hat, SUSE, Elastic, HashiCorp, and Cloudera. Following that, the breakout sessions and technical deep dives will feature Linux rock stars who’ll share best practices and insights for getting more from your open-source apps, data, and infrastructure on Azure.

You’ll be among the first to learn about the latest products and services spanning the entire Linux ecosystem in the event’s previews and announcements. This event will include a live chat where you can connect with the experts, ask them your questions about migrating and operating your Linux solutions on Azure, and network with your peers. We’ll also feature stories from Microsoft customers who boosted their productivity and innovation using Linux on Azure, plus contests with prizes during the event.

Register for Open Azure Day and join me on November 18.
