Whether you’re looking to lift-and-shift on-premises SQL Server databases to SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS) or migrate and modernize them to Azure SQL Managed Instance (PaaS), the Azure SQL Migration extension for Azure Data Studio (powered by Azure Database Migration Service) will guide you through a simple wizard to reduce the complexities of database migrations. The extension also performs assessments on your SQL Server databases to check for Azure suitability and provides Azure recommendations for migrating them to a right-sized Azure SQL Managed Instance or a right-sized SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
