Prices are calculated based on US dollars and converted using London closing spot rates that are captured in the two business days prior to the last business day of the previous month end. Each Azure DocumentDB cluster has one or more nodes. As the performance needs of your MongoDB workload grow, you can vertically scale by upgrading your cluster tier to larger nodes with more compute and memory or horizontally scale by adding (sharding) additional nodes to your cluster.

High availability (Recommended)
Recommended for production. High availability (HA) avoids database downtime by maintaining standby replicas. HA can be disabled in dev/test scenarios to reduce the cost by 50%.
