Biztalk Enterprise Virtual Machines Scale Sets Pricing

Manage and scale up to thousands of Linux and Windows virtual machines

Virtual Machine scale sets make it easy to build highly scalable applications by allowing you to effortlessly deploy and manage a set of VMs as a group. Built on the Azure Resource Manager deployment model, VM scale sets are fully integrated with Azure load balancing and autoscale and support Windows, Linux, custom images and extensions. VM scale sets offer two modes of operation:

  1. Scale Set VMs – this provides easy creation and management of identical VMs
  2. Single VMs – this provide easy way to add your VMs to VMSS during the creation process (e.g., to obtain high availability)

Virtual Machine scale sets are currently available on all Azure Windows or Linux VM sizes. You are only charged for the Azure VMs you deploy, as well as any additional underlying infrastructure resources consumed such as storage and networking. There are no incremental charges for the Virtual Machine scale sets service itself. Standard egress charges apply.

General purpose

Balanced CPU-to-memory ratio. Ideal for testing and development, small to medium databases and low to medium traffic web servers.

Bs-series

Bs-series are economical virtual machines that provide a low-cost option for workloads that typically run at a low to moderate baseline CPU performance, but sometimes need to burst to significantly higher CPU performance when the demand rises. These workloads do not require the use of the full CPU all the time, but occasionally will need to burst to finish some tasks more quickly. Many applications such as development and test servers, low traffic web servers, small databases, micro services, servers for proof-of-concepts, build servers and code repositories fit into this model.

Av2 Standard *

Av2 Standard is the latest generation of A-series virtual machines with similar CPU performance and faster disk. These virtual machines are suitable for development workloads, build servers, code repositories, low-traffic websites and web applications, micro services, early product experiments and small databases. Like the prior A Standard generation, Av2 virtual machines will include load balancing and auto-scaling at no additional charge.

D2a – D96a v4

The Da v4-series VMs are based on the 2.35Ghz AMD EPYCTM 7452 processor, which can achieve up to 3.35GHz. The Dav4 VM sizes offer a combination of vCPU(s), memory and temporary storage able to meet the requirements associated with most production workloads. Data disk storage is billed separately from virtual machines. To use Premium SSD disk storage, select the Das v4 VMs.

The Das v4-series VMs support Premium SSD disk storage and are based on the 2.35Ghz AMD EPYCTM 7452 processor, which can achieve up to 3.35GHz. The Das v4 VM sizes offer a combination of vCPUs, memory and temporary storage able to meet the requirements associated with most production workloads.

The VM pricing and billing meters for Das v4 VMs are the same as Da v4 VM series. Persistent storage disks are billed separately from virtual machines. See pricing for disks.

The Ddv5 series virtual machines are based on the third Generation Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8370C (Ice Lake) processor in a hyper-threaded configuration. This custom processor can reach an all core Turbo clock speed of up to 3.5GHz and features Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (Intel® AVX-512) and Intel® Deep Learning Boost. The Ddv5 and Ddsv5 virtual machine sizes include high performance, large local SSD storage (up to 2,400 GiB) and provide a better value proposition for most general-purpose workloads compared to the prior generation (e.g., increased scalability and an upgraded CPU class).

The Ddv5 VM sizes offer a combination of vCPUs, memory and temporary storage able to meet the requirements associated with most enterprise workloads, such as small-to-medium databases, low-to-medium traffic web servers, application servers and more.

You can attach Standard SSDs and Standard HDDs disk storage to these VMs. To use Premium SSD or Ultra Disk storage, select Ddsv5 VMs. Disk storage is billed separately from virtual machines. See pricing for disks.

They also provide a better value proposition for most general-purpose workloads compared to the prior generation (e.g., increased scalability and an upgraded CPU class).

The Dv5 and Dsv5 virtual machine sizes do not have any temporary storage thus lowering the price of entry. You can attach Standard SSDs and Standard HDDs disk storage to these VMs. If you prefer to use Premium SSD or Ultra Disk storage, please select the Dsv5 virtual machines instead. Disk storage is billed separately from virtual machines. See pricing for disks.
