New Azure Virtual Machines for general purpose and memory intensive workloads now in preview

The new D v4-series and E v4-series Azure Virtual Machines feature the Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8272CL custom processor, which can achieve up to 3.4 Ghz all core turbo frequency. The D v4-series and E v4-series virtual machines (VMs) don’t provide any temporary storage. The D v4-series and Ds v4-series virtual machine sizes can meet the requirements associated with most general-purpose workloads. The E v4-series and Es v4-series VMs offer up to 504 GiB of RAM and are ideal for various memory-intensive enterprise applications.

The Dd v4-series and Dds v4 virtual machine (VM) sizes are well suited for applications that benefit from low-latency, high-speed local storage (up to 2,400 GiB.) The Edv4-series and Edsv4-series VM sizes are ideal for various memory-intensive enterprise applications and feature up to 504 GiB of RAM, in addition to high-performance local SSD storage (up to 2,400 GiB.)
