Classic alerts are scheduled to retire, and now you can automatically migrate them to the new Azure Monitor platform.

Upcoming change to Azure Monitor Application Insights Smart Detection emails
On 1 April 2019, we’re changing the default roles that receive email notifications from Azure Monitor Application Insights Smart Detection. The new default roles are Monitoring Reader and Monitoring Contributor.

Azure Monitor has two new capabilities: multi-resource alerts and dynamic thresholds that make it easier and scalable for you to create Azure Monitor metric alerts.
