Improved Linux support for VMware and other Site Recovery enhancements
Published date: August 12, 2016
In the latest release of Azure Site Recovery, we’ve added support for more flavors of Linux and have made other resiliency enhancements.
Site Recovery customers can now protect virtual machines virtualized on VMware and running the following versions of Linux to Azure:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2
- CentOS 7.0
- CentOS 7.1
- CentOS 7.2
This is in addition to the list of Linux versions that Site Recovery already supports, and it's available to all customers who are using Site Recovery to help protect their workloads.
We've also added support for migration of Linux instances from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Azure. Currently, support for Linux migration from AWS is limited to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 HVM images.
We’ve also made enhancements to improve the robustness of failover operations and to ease troubleshooting. One such feature is that machines that have failed over to an Azure Resource Manager compute instance will have boot diagnostics turned on by default.
