Service Fabric node-by-node cluster upgrades are now in development

Published date: 29 March, 2019

At times there is a need to have more control over the upgrade domains for a Service Fabric cluster, especially if the clusters are larger or if you only want to upgrade a very small number of nodes in your cluster. The standard five UD in Azure can be limiting in these cases. For example, imagine that you wanted to upgrade an application with an instance deployed across a 10-node cluster, with 5 UDs, and the minimum upgrade to the traffic is 2 nodes, or 20%. With this capability, you can use 1 node, or just 10% of the cluster, and then roll back just this single node, creating a smaller impact on your rollout.
