New performance recommendations now available in Azure Advisor
Published date: September 30, 2020
Azure Advisor now includes the following best practice recommendations to help you improve resource performance:
- Use the Accelerated Writes feature in your HBase cluster. An Advisor recommendation will appear if your cluster is suffering from high write latencies due to a heavy workload performed on your cluster. Utilizing this feature, which attaches premium SSD-managed disks to every RegionServer (worker node) instead of using cloud storage, results in low write-latency and better resiliency for your applications. - Review Azure Data Explorer table cache-period (policy). If an Advisor recommendation surfaces Azure Data Explorer tables that have a high number of queries looking back into data beyond the configured data cache period (policy), you can limit queries on the table to the minimal necessary time range (within the defined policy) in order to improve performance.
- Optimize MySQL temporary-table sizing. If your MySQL server is incurring unnecessary I/O overhead due to low temporary-table parameter settings, resulting in unnecessary disk-based transactions and reduced performance, you can now adjust parameter values to reduce the number of disk-based transactions. Distribute data in server group to distribute workload among nodes. If data stays on the coordinator, then for full Hyperscale (Citus) benefits, distribute data on work nodes in this server group. This utilizes the resource of each node in the server group and improves query performance. Learn more.
