Azure Virtual Machines B-Series
Published date: 12 September, 2017
The B-series of virtual machines offers a cost-effective way to deploy workloads that burst in their performance, but don’t require continuous full performance of the CPU. When B-series virtual machines run in the low-points and aren’t fully utilising the baseline performance of the CPU, the virtual machine instance is building up credits. When it has accumulated enough credit, you can burst your usage up to 100 per cent of the vCPU for the period of time that your application requires the higher CPU performance.
These virtual machine sizes allow you to pay and burst as needed, so you use only a fraction of the CPU when you don’t need it, and can burst up to 100% of the CPU when you do (using Intel® Haswell 2.4 GHz E5-2673 v3 processors or better). This level of control gives you greater cost flexibility and value.
