Frequently asked questions about Azure Automanage

  • Automanage enrols, configures and monitors the entire lifecycle of dev/test and production VMs for services such as Azure Security Center, Update Management, Change tracking, VM inventory, Desired state configuration, Guest configuration, Automation accounts and Log analytics. In addition, Azure Backup and VM Insights monitoring are additional services that are configured when using the Azure Virtual Machine best practices – Production configuration profile. Microsoft Antimalware for Azure Cloud Services and Virtual Machines is also included in the preview, as well as security baselines for Windows Server through desired state configuration and guest configuration.
  • You can customise settings for specific services such as Azure Backup retention. For the full list of settings that can be changed, please see our documentation.
  • Currently, Automanage only supports Windows Server Azure VMs.
  • Detailed information on pricing is unavailable during preview.
  • You can enable Automanage with point-and-click simplicity on selected new and existing VMs and disable it at any time.
