Default backup retention period for DTU-based Azure SQL databases is changing soon

To facilitate smooth conversion from DTU-based to vCore-based databases and elastic pools,  the default backup retention period for point in time restore of the DTU-based Azure SQL Databases is changing from 35 days to 7 days. Effective July 1st, this change will align the default retention periods of the DTU-based and vCore-based databases. The change will impact the databases created after July 1st. The existing databases will remain unchanged. Customers can set a different retention period using Azure Portal, PowerShell or REST API.
