Would you like to code your own player “bot” and test your skills online against other Windows Azure developers in the United States, Canada, China, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden and the United Kingdom for bragging rights AND a chance at $5,000? Then be sure to sign up for the Rock Paper Azure Grand Tournament*, which will take place LIVE on July 13, 2011.  The challenge is the same as it was the last time we blogged about it but the prizes and the field of play are bigger than ever. The Grand Tournament will be broadcast live July 13, 2011, 7:00 – 8:00 pm ET and the winners will be announced at the end of the tournament.  The Grand Prize tournament winner will take home $5,000. Second place wins $1,000 and the 10 runners-up each get $250. Everyone who participates and uploads a bot will receive the official Rock Paper Azure Challenge t-shirt.

As a reminder, here’s how it works:

• Get Your Windows Azure Account – You’ll need a Windows Azure account to host your Bot Lab. Get a free Windows Azure platform 30-day pass now. Just enter the promo code: PLAYRPA
• Build and Test your Bot – Download the bits and start building your bot. Check out the Get Started page for walkthroughs and more info. Watch our twitter feed and blogs for tips to make your bot unbeatable.
• Play the game – You have until 6:00 pm ET on July 13, 2011 to enter the Grand Tournament event.  The battle of the bots will take place in a live broadcast from 8:00 – 8:00 pm ET.
