Pricing details
Azure Elastic SAN is a cloud-native Storage Area Network (SAN) that offers an end-to-end experience like on-premises SAN. Elastic SAN provides scalable performance with low single digit millisecond latency, millions of IOPS, double digit GBps, and built-in business continuity and disaster recovery support.
Elastic SAN, is charged by the amount you provision within our two provisioning offerings: Base unit and Capacity only unit. They are designed to offer simple bulk provisioning experience while also providing flexibility to expand your data footprint. The Base unit has a capacity of 5,000 IOPs and a throughput of 200 MBps per TiB and is priced at $- $- /GiB (see table below for exact pricing by region). The Capacity only unit, on the other hand, allows you to provision capacity only without provisioning performance at a lower cost of $- $- /GiB. As a result, you can cost-effectively scale performance while migrating workloads from on-premises to Azure.
Azure Elastic SAN resources will be billed hourly at a monthly unit rate. For example, if you provision an Elastic SAN with 20 Base Units of 20 TiB, 100,000 IOPS, 4,000 MBps and then delete it after 20 hours, you will be billed for 20 hours at the monthly rate listed in the table below. You can choose to provision an Azure Elastic SAN with a combination of base and capacity units that best fit your needs. The following table summarises the different configurations supported for different units:

The total price of Azure Elastic SAN depends on the base and capacity scale unit. Elastic SAN supports both zone redundant storage (ZRS) and locally redundant storage (LRS) with ZRS redundancy priced at a 50% premium over LRS. Please refer to the Azure Storage replication page for more details on redundancy options. Elastic SAN will need to be provisioned with at least one base unit of 1 TiB. It is also important to note that the SAN-provisioned resources are shared by all volume groups and volumes.
